The problem comes before the technology.
Most systems that fail were built against a process nobody measured. We spend the first two to three weeks finding out what the work actually costs, because a build aimed at the wrong problem is expensive in a way no amount of engineering fixes later.
AI is a tool, not the product.
A model goes in where it beats the alternative on accuracy, cost or maintainability. Where a queue, a validation rule or a field that should have existed years ago does the same job, we will say so — even though it is the cheaper recommendation.
A system that nobody uses is not a delivery.
We measure ourselves on what is still running six months later, not on what shipped. That is why the engagement does not end at handover, and why we write down what we expect to change before we build it.
Fixed price, or the incentives are wrong.
Every engagement is a fixed price against a defined scope. If we estimated badly, that is our problem rather than your invoice — and nobody on either side is rewarded for making the work take longer.
